Today, Friday, October 26, Nikolai Karachentsov, a famous Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, died. This weekend, the artist was supposed to celebrate his 74th birthday, but the disease was stronger. The death of Nikolai Petrovich was reported by his son Andrei.

Cause of death

In September 2017, the actor was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer in his left lung. To all this, pneumonia was added in October 2018, which caused the actor to be admitted to intensive care.

If Kolya had only oncology without disability of the first group and loss of a part of the brain, without inserted metal collarbones and broken ribs, it would be much easier for doctors. And since Kolya was badly injured in that terrible car accident 13 years ago, it is not easy for doctors to put him on his feet. The body is worn out, and then new sores have added. But Koka is great - he does not give up. He rejoices every day, asks to read Pushkin to him, it cheers him up, - said the actor's wife in early October.

According to Lyudmila, in the hospital, Nikolai Petrovich was very bored without his pets - a parrot, a cat and a dog.

Recall that at the end of last year it became known that Nikolai Karachentsov was found to have an inoperable cancer tumor in his left lung. The artist was treated for some time in Israel. Most the sums for medical procedures were provided by the Nikita Mikhalkov Foundation, and several million were donated by the actor's colleagues. Unfortunately, radiation therapy did not help, and after a while the tumor began to increase in size again. However, the troubles of the Karachentsov family did not end there either.

In early October, Nikolai Petrovich was admitted to intensive care in one of the clinics near Moscow with bilateral pneumonia. It was there that he died without waiting for his birthday.

As the artist's wife Lyudmila Porgina told the radio station "Moscow speaking", Karachentsov died at 9 am on October 26 at the Moscow City Cancer Hospital. His kidneys have failed.

It was difficult not to fall in love with the artist. It happened with Lyudmila Porgina, a young actress of Lenkom. At the time of her acquaintance with Karachentsov, she was married to stuntman Viktor Korzun. But what did it matter if the woman realized that she had settled in her heart real love? But whether this is true or the speculation of journalists thirsty for sensations is known only to Nikolai Karachentsov himself and his wife. Whatever it was, but the couple have been together for four decades.

In the clinic, he urgently underwent craniotomy and brain surgery, after which Nikolai Petrovich was transferred to the Sklifosovsky Institute. There, the actor lay in a coma for almost a month, but the efforts of the doctors were crowned with success: he was on the mend. The long recovery process allowed the star to return to life.

In 2007 Nikolai Karachentsov took part in the gala concert "Stars Descended from Heaven ...", where he presented discs with his own repertoire. At that time, the actor came to support on stage many of his star friends, including Mikhail Boyarsky, Alexander Marshal, Oleg Gazmanov, Laima Vaikule.

But after the accident, Nikolai Karachentsov was never able to completely restore speech and movements, so he could not continue his acting career. In 2011, the artist underwent a rehabilitation course in Israel.

On June 24, 2012, some media outlets reported on the death of the great artist, which shocked not only the fans of Nikolai Karachentsov, but also his friends and colleagues from Lenkom. As it turned out, the shocking news of the death of the actor was provoked by information about a sharp deterioration in the health of Nikolai Petrovich. Negligent journalists, thirsty for sensation, have come up with a "duck" about death, stirring up thousands of people.

In 2013, the artist underwent treatment in leading clinics in Beijing. In October 2016, the Moscow Peace Foundation awarded the artist with the Gold Order "Service to Art".

Exactly 12 years later, on February 27, 2017, Nikolai Karachentsov again got into a serious accident. His wife's Toyota Highlander collided with a Gazelle in the Moscow region. According to his wife Lyudmila Porgina, Nikolai Karachentsov's kidneys failed.

Nikolai Karachentsov's life changed dramatically at the end of February 2005, when he had an accident. On that fateful night, he learned about the death of his mother-in-law, while outside the city, and decided to return home.

While driving a Volkswagen Passat, the actor lost control and rammed a pillar. As a result, he received a severe head injury and remained in a coma for 26 days. In the fall of 2017, Karachentsov was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in the lung. He underwent several courses of treatment, including in Israel.

At the beginning of the month it became known that Karachentsov was hospitalized with pneumonia.

Farewell to Nikolai Karachentsov will take place on October 29 at Lenkom. The director of the theater Mark Varshaver told TASS agency about it.

“Naturally, farewell to Nikolai Petrovich will take place in our theater - on the stage of Lenkom on October 29,” Varshaver said.

We have lost a multifaceted talent, very lively and sincere. One of the creators of the cultural code of our childhood and youth.

After a long, long illness, 13 years of wandering around hospitals around the world, operations, slow extinction, loss of speech, car accident, Nikolai Karachentsov died. In the literal sense - tortured.

Each of us has our favorite Soviet artists, but hardly anyone would argue that Nikolai Karachentsov was the most famous, most beloved and most recognizable face of our cinema of the second half of the 20th century. Whether he was the most talented is difficult to say, but, undoubtedly, Karachentsov took charm and courage. It was ours, Soviet, Belmondo and Alain Delon in one bottle. Belmondo, you know, is also not a standard of beauty - but everyone adored it!

It is not an easy task even to simply list all the wonderful films in which Karachentsov starred and which were included in the golden fund of our cinema. In terms of the number of films with his participation, Nikolay will probably remain the record holder. This is "The Man from the Boulevard des Capuchins", and "Dog in the Manger", and "Treasure Island", and "The Adventures of Electronics", and "Battalions are asking for fire", and about a hundred (!) Movie roles. And they are all diverse, multifaceted revealing the talent of an actor who could transform into a gangster, a cowboy, a lieutenant of the Red Army, and a medieval aristocrat. Karachentsov played each of his roles dashingly, energetically, bringing a spirit of impetuosity and fun into the picture. Even his voice alone was the best seasoning for fights, chases and love scenes - for example, in the cartoon "Dog in Boots", where Nikolai voiced the dog-D'Artanyan.

This is probably why he was often chosen for the role of foreigners. “Suitable face”, and in general - some kind of “not ours” type, foreign, a kind of broken-hearted rascal from the world of capitalist sharks (one hundred percent hit in the image was the role of the noble swindler Jeff Peters from O'Henry's stories). Who would play better a gangster or a pirate - the roles are partly "heroic", but morally ambiguous? Karachentsov was the main "clear-cut man" in the arsenal of Soviet cinema and he got the conditional antiheroes - those who cannot be dispensed with in the plot, but who, at the same time, must also be not repulsive, but lively and charming.

It is not for nothing that Karachentsov was compared a little higher with Belmondo - the commonality of the types of these two actors for many viewers generally united them into one person, because the French artist in Soviet dubbing always spoke in the voice of Karachentsov. And it was probably the best choice voice acting.

Probably, by this time, readers will want to interrupt the author with an exclamation: why, Karachentsov not only played in the movies, but also in the theater! Of course! And just now it is appropriate to say about the role that immortalized Nikolai Petrovich as a theater artist - about Count Rezanov in the most famous Soviet rock opera "Juno and Avos".

Rezanov, in fact, was still that type (it is enough to familiarize yourself with the diaries of Kruzenshtern, on whose ship he skirted Earth, in every possible way spoiling the blood of his colleagues on the expedition) - but few people know about this, and after "Juno and Avos" everyone remembered an impetuous and passionate lover for whom nothing will become an obstacle - neither time, nor borders, nor distance. Here Karachentsov was able to create an immortal generalized image of all his roles, which rose from riot to high tragedy. For this role alone, his name could well have been awarded a "Hollywood star" on the metaphorical domestic "walk of fame".

We have lost a multifaceted talent, very lively and sincere. One of the creators of the cultural code of our childhood and youth. "Billy, load!"

The whole country knew Karachentsov, he was a popular idol. People came to Moscow to see the performance of the artist in "Lenkom", by the way, and the theater got its name from his light hand... They loved the roles of Karachentsov in the cinema - "The Eldest Son", "The Man from Boulevard des Capucines", "Dog in the Manger" ... These and other films with his participation are still watched and revised with great interest. Each song performed by Karachentsov is a mini-performance where the artist told the audience a story.

Karachentsov is one of the most popular Russian actors... He starred in dozens of films, including The Dog in the Manger, White Dew, The Trust That Burst, The Adventures of Electronics, Queen Margot, The Man from Boulevard des Capuchins. The most famous theatrical role of Karachentsov is Count Rezanov in Juno and Avos.

Nature generously endowed the actor with dramatic talent, musicality, plasticity and such a rare quality as incredible masculine charm. Who could have been left indifferent by his hoarse voice and infectious smile?

“My whole biography will fit into three lines - I was born, graduated from school, institute and came to Lenkom,” said Karachentsov.

He has been with Lenkom since 1967, immediately after graduating from the Moscow Art Theater School. He always said that he wanted to study only in a studio at the Art Theater, and with an incredible then 300 people competition for a place, he entered, then became a Kachalovsky scholar and came out with honors.

He came to the Lenin Komsomol Theater in difficult times. Then it was not a successful "Lenkom", which everyone knows today. There was a difficult period when Anatoly Efros left the theater against his will, when the audience stopped going to the theater. But Karachentsov always said that he did not regret that time and was grateful to Vladimir Monakhov, the chief director of Lenkom from 1967 to 1971.

“All these years, I went on stage every evening, played many roles - major and episodic, different in genre and significance. Something worked out, some didn't, but I worked - what else can a novice actor dream of? " - he said.

So when Mark Zakharov came to the theater, Karachentsov was professionally ready.

In the first performance of Zakharov, "Autograd XXI", he ran in the crowd. And already in the next "Tila" he got the title role. "Till" became a serious stage in the life of the actor. The premiere took place in 1974, and then everyone recognized and forever fell in love with the artist Nikolai Karachentsov. He said that Zakharov, not finding the next morning after the premiere at the theater on usual place photo of the actor, said: "Well, Kolya, you have already become famous."

The play based on the novel by Charles de Coster was written by Grigory Gorin, and the music by the composer Gennady Gladkov. The performance produced the effect of an exploding bomb - unheard of sharp remarks, unusually bold zongs.

In the center of the performance - real hero- a desperate, brave, agile and intelligent rebel, Till, who always comes out victorious in the most incredible situations. Till performed by Karachentsov, who, as always, played "to rupture the aorta", became the idol of the youth of the 70s.

“Zakharov turned the fate of our entire theater upside down. He opened to us then still unknown layer of creativity. For the first time I invited a real rock group to the drama theater, teachers who were engaged in vocals, stage movement with us, ”the actor recalled.

The first step in this genre was Til, then The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta, where Karachentsov played two roles at once: Death and the Head of the Rangers. And finally, "Juno and Avos".

It was not the cinema that made Karachentsov famous, but the theater. This is an exceptional case for an actor. A world fame the artist was brought the title role in the legendary play "Juno and Avos", where he created the image of Count Rezanov - a Russian officer, a noble and brave knight, a real man.

The love story of a Russian naval officer, Count Rezanov, and his fiancée, an American-Spanish girl Conchita, who waited for 40 years for the return of her fiancé, never knowing that he died on the way to St. Petersburg, where he went to ask permission for this marriage.

This story, composed by the poet Andrei Voznesensky and set to music by Alexei Rybnikov and directed by the artistic director of Lenkom Zakharov, has become a truly stellar performance. business card"Lenkoma".

The success of this performance was overwhelming - in Moscow, the desire to see this miracle with Karachentsov deprived people of their minds and they broke down the doors of the theater entrance. And in Paris, where Pierre Cardin invited the performance, there were overcrowded halls, a flurry of applause, people stood in line to shake hands after the performance, send a postcard with the words: "All my kisses are yours!"

Karachentsov recalled how one French colleague asked him: "Do you always play like this for the last time, to rupture the aorta?" Karachentsov replied: "We don't know how to do it differently, we play with all our heart and soul."

Nikolay Karachentsov is an actor of different roles. He played the rebel Thiel and Count Rezanov, Shakespeare's Laertes and the Baltic sailor Alexei, His Serene Highness Prince Menshikov and the deceiver Zvonarev-Davidovich.

Andrey Tarkovsky staged Shakespeare's Hamlet in Lenkom. The director brought his artists - Solonitsyn, Terekhova, and from the Lenkom troupe he invited Inna Churikova, Nikolai Karachentsov, who played Laertes, and as one of the critics wrote then, this was the most noble Laertes of all he had seen.

"Lenkom" in those years was a theater from which they expected surprises, and Mark Zakharov never tired of surprising the audience. Unexpected was the appearance in the repertoire of Vsevolod Vishnevsky's play "Optimistic Tragedy", which Zakharov managed to stage in such a way that the revolutionary plot sounded modern.

Karachentsov played in the play of the Baltic sailor Alexei, and the commissioner - Inna Churikova, who admitted that Karachentsov was her favorite partner.

The famous film director Gleb Panfilov specially for this acting duo staged the play "Sorry ..." based on the play by Alexander Galin on the stage of "Lenkom".

"Sorry ...", "Jester Balakirev", "City of Millionaires" and the legendary "Juno and Avos" are the last performances in which Karachentsov appeared on the stage on the eve of a terrible tragedy that interrupted the "flight" of this unique artist in the prime of his creative powers. The catastrophe took away from him theater, cinema, stage, but, fortunately, saved his life. And at every gathering of the troupe in "Lenkom", the theater's premier, People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Karachentsov, was always present in the hall.

For a long time, the theater could not decide to replace Karachentsov in the performances. They hoped that he would return to the stage. But then, one - "Sorry ..." was removed from the repertoire, and in others - other artists were slowly introduced. But for those who saw Karachentsov in the play "Juno and Avos", he will forever remain the one and only Count Rezanov.

“Now I want to choose, to work with great literature. Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, Chekhov - they have depth, scale, this is for all times. The time has come to take a new height, ”said Karachentsov shortly before the disaster.

But fate decreed otherwise. He did not manage to do much of what he dreamed of and what he could accomplish.

Karachentsov, fortunately, miraculously survived, but could no longer play on stage. Tragedy separated him from the most important thing in his life - acting. But he didn't give up. All these long years after the disaster, he courageously fought against diseases. He lived, not survived. He remained an artist of this theater until the end of his life. He could be seen not only at Lenkom's premieres, but at all Moscow theaters. He, as before, was interested and managed to see all the most interesting things that happened in the art world. The character of the fighter and creative passion did not leave him until the last days.
