Access to ships moored at the Lieutenant Schmidt embankment will be open. A concert will take place on Palace Square with the participation of famous performers. And at 22:30, festive fireworks will thunder over the Peter and Paul Fortress.

Judging by the scale, such a parade on Navy Day has not happened for decades. The crews of dozens of ships from all fleets - the Pacific, Northern, Baltic, Black Sea and Caspian flotillas - met in the sea capital to work for the viewer these days. Naval aviation also takes part in this parade, and spectators will see examples of all the fleet’s aviation equipment. The newest Ka-52 helicopters will lead this formation.

More than thirty warships, missile cruisers, nuclear submarines, the largest sailing ships and dozens of aircraft.

Previously, during the Navy Day events, ships lined up in a parade line, moored in the Neva fairway, but now at the main naval parade they will pass at a given speed in the wake formation. The sight of the moving warship is breathtaking. The parade will definitely be dynamic and spectacular. After the parade, residents and guests of St. Petersburg and Kronstadt will be able to visit warships and boats, inspect their weapons, get acquainted with the living conditions of military sailors, and become imbued with naval traditions.

The parade will start at 10.00 and last an hour and a half. Spectators are in for an unforgettable spectacle. Such a large-scale event will be held in St. Petersburg for the first time.

The ships will sail along the Neva and carry the flags of the heroic formations that defended the maritime borders of our Motherland during the Great Patriotic War. Patriotic War, said Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Vice Admiral Alexander Fedotenkov. — Ships of the ocean sea zone will parade along the Kronstadt roadstead.

At 10.00, the military parade in Kronstadt and the parade of warships will be broadcast on large screens.

An online application is already running on the Ministry of Defense website within the historical and educational interactive section navyparade.mil.ru. It describes the procedure for the passage of naval warships in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt during the Main Naval Parade, talks about the main tactical and technical characteristics and the weapons systems the ships are equipped with.

A “parterre” for spectators of the parade, of course, is planned, but only holders of invitation cards and a few accredited journalists will be able to get there on July 30. The main stand was installed on Senate Square in front of the Bronze Horseman. From there, according to the organizers, it will be possible to see, if not absolutely, then almost everything, writes Fontanka.

The rest of the citizens and guests of St. Petersburg who really want to join the holiday on the Neva embankments have two options: TV, which will definitely show everything down to the smallest detail, or choose one of the points in the city.

There are not many points and each has its nuances. The most beautiful and most full view will open to those who can get to the small “balcony” near the Palace Bridge. On July 30 at 9 a.m. the bridge will be opened and no one will be allowed onto it, but at the very corner with the University Embankment there is a small space from where you will have a view of Senate Square and the ships docked in the Neva.

Also, those who find themselves on the pier with lions on the other side will have a convenient viewing angle. Ships will pass by them during the parade, and aerobatic teams will fly over them. Only now you won’t be able to look at Senate Square anymore. There is, however, a possibility that the entrance to this popular site will be closed - not a single department could answer Fontanka where exactly the “red” zone will begin only for those with special invitations and passes. The wording that we managed to obtain sounds somewhat vague: “from the Admiralty to the end of Senate Square.”

Universitetskaya embankment is ideal for watching the festival, but you should arrive early and stand so that the view is not blocked by any of the ships standing on the “banks”. Otherwise, you will have to be content with contemplating the snow-white jackets of the sailors standing with their backs. However, airplanes Pacific Fleet will brighten up the disappointment: they will fly over our heads.

The descent at the Rumyantsevsky Garden is good for everyone: there are no ships in front of it, the view is excellent, the descent itself is wide. There is only one concern - there are no fences at the edge, so the first rows should be careful. Moreover, spectators can sit comfortably on the “balcony” of the embankment itself.

On the Palace Embankment is the best point for viewing the “active” part of the parade, when the ships will move along the Neva, as well as the flyover of aviation and fireworks - salvos are planned from the beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress. Through the doors of the opened Palace Bridge it will be possible to observe ships near the University Embankment. The lack of view of Senate Square is compensated for by the screen installed on the spit of Hare Island. In addition, planes will appear spectacularly from behind the Exchange building.

But refueling in the air directly overhead will be able to be observed by those who find themselves on the central and northern parts of the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island. Otherwise the same set as from the other side.

The last point in our review is the Lieutenant Schmidt embankment. There you can see in detail one of the Chinese ships that came to celebrate Navy Day, as well as the entire column that will parade along the Neva. However most Parade participants will be practically invisible.

The parade will be broadcast on Channel One, starting at 10.00.

The military department revealed the procedure for building warships in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt on Navy Day. Infographics with detailed location ships in the waters of the Neva and the Gulf of Finland was published by the publication "A red star". Thus, the flagship of the main naval parade will be the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Peter the Great". The parade will be attended by the missile cruiser "Marshal Ustinov", the heavy nuclear missile submarine cruiser frigate "Admiral Makarov", the large landing ship "Minsk", the large anti-submarine ship "Vice Admiral Kulakov", the large landing ship "Alexander Shabalin", the frigate "Admiral" Gorshkov", Project 877 diesel submarines "Dmitrov" and "Vladikavkaz", small missile ship "Serpukhov", minesweeper "Alexander Obukhov", small anti-submarine ship "Urengoy", raid minesweeper RT-248, missile boat "Chuvashiya", missile boat " Dimitrovgrad", large landing ship "Ivan Gren", boat "Zelenodolsk", diesel submarines of project 636.3 "Kolpino" and "Veliky Novgorod", minesweeper BT-115, boats "Grachonok", "Raptor", landing boats of project 11770, small missile the ship "Geyser", the small anti-submarine ship "Kazanets" and the corvette "Soobrazitelny". According to the published construction scheme, the ships will line up in a parade line in the Bolshaya Neva in the direction from the Trinity Bridge to the mouth of the river. The formation will be led by the landing ship "Minsk", the small anti-submarine ship "Urengoy" and the missile boat "Dimitrovgrad" - these three ships will line up near Zayachiy Island and the Peter and Paul Fortress, near the right bank of the Neva. Near the left bank of the river, from Summer Garden to the end of the Promenade des Anglais, small ships and diesel submarines will be built. Opposite Senate Square and the Admiralteyskaya Embankment near Vasilyevsky Island, the corvette "Stoikiy", the frigate "Admiral Makarov", the diesel submarine "Dmitrov" will be moored to participate in the parade. The heavy nuclear submarine cruise "Dmitry" Donskoy", the missile cruiser "Marshal Ustinov", large landing ships, large anti-submarine ships will take part in the Kronstadt part of the main naval parade. In Russia, the history of celebrations in honor of the fleet dates back to the time of Peter I. It was the first to the Russian Emperor came up with the idea of holding annual naval holidays with ship parades and gun salutes.

The very tradition of naval parades came from Europe. In 1698 in England, Peter I, who studied theoretical basis shipbuilding, for the first time saw the solemn ritual when warships standing in the roadstead, decorated with flags, are walked around by the first Lord Admiral of the fleet, and then he is met on the flagship to the sounds of a bugle and a brass band.

The very next year, 1699, on March 18, in the presence of the Turkish Sultan, Peter organized the first semblance of a naval parade. The review of the forces of the newly created Azov Fleet was supposed to help establish diplomatic relations with Turkey and signing a peace treaty.

However, another 15 years were to pass before the first real naval parade. During this time, Russia managed to enter into a war with Sweden, strengthen its positions in the north-west and win several major naval victories in the waters of the Baltic Sea, the most significant of which - the victory at Cape Gangut - is still the Day of Military Glory of Russia.

On July 27 (August 7, new style), 1714, during the Northern War, the Russian fleet won a victory at Gangut, which became the first in Russian history naval victory of the Russian fleet. This event was the occasion for the first real naval parade. How the celebration of this victory took place can be seen in the engravings by A.F. Zubov and P. Picard.

On the morning of September 9, 1714, Russian and captured Swedish ships with St. Andrew's flags raised high appeared before the numerous spectators who had gathered that day on the banks of the Neva. The parade formation was crowned by three Russian galleys.

Then they entered the Neva Swedish pram“Elephant”, galleys “Ern”, “Tranan”, “Gripen”, “Laxen”, “Geden” and “Walfisch”, skerries “Flyundran”, “Mootan” and “Simpan”, and after them - the Russian flagship galley of the ship rear admiral, on board of which, as during the battle, was Peter himself, and several other ships with Russian sailors.

The ships were moored at Trinity Square in the order in which they followed during the Battle of Gangut. On the square along the Neva, bounded by a long building standing parallel to it Gostiny Dvor, the formation of Russian troops and captured Swedes took place. Then a solemn procession began through the city, in which 200 captured Swedish soldiers, sailors and 14 officers, as well as two companies of Preobrazhensky soldiers, took part.

Next, four Russian non-commissioned officers carried the low-lowered, unfurled flag of the Swedish rear admiral. Then came Rear Admiral Ehrenskiöld himself, and behind him came Peter as rear admiral of the naval fleet and colonel of the Preobrazhensky regiment.

The people greeted the winners with delight. Flags were flying everywhere. On the shore there was a board with paintings, on one of which an eagle, symbolizing Russia, was attacking an elephant - “Elephant”. The picture was accompanied by the inscription: “An eagle does not catch flies.” The ceremonial salute was given three times - simultaneously from the Admiralty and St. Petersburg fortresses and from the commanding galley. The celebration continued for several days.

In his decree, Peter I ordered that the day of the Gangut victory be celebrated annually on July 27 with solemn services, naval parades and fireworks. This day has become a kind of holiday of the Navy along with anniversaries Battle of Poltava 1709 (the main victory of the Russian army in the Northern War), the victory at Lesnaya in 1708 and the capture of the Oreshek fortress in 1702 (the first victory in the Northern War). Subsequently, they were added to the naval victory at Grengam, also won on St. Panteleimon's Day on July 27, 1720. Completed the Great Northern War(1700–1721) The Treaty of Nystadt was concluded on August 30 (old style) 1721. On the occasion of this event in St. Petersburg, people walked the streets and rode on the water on barges and ropes.

In Moscow, where the celebration took place in December, the masquerade procession consisted of many vessels of various sizes and shapes placed on runners. Under the leadership of Peter himself, who commanded the flagship ship, the procession with music and cannon fire moved through the streets of the capital and, passing through the Kremlin, saluted Peter’s boat “St. Nicholas,” “the grandfather of the Russian fleet,” displayed at the foot, decorated with inscriptions and allegorical symbols corresponding to the celebration. paintings. The ceremonial display of the boot clearly indicated that such honor was being given to him for the important services brought by his valiant offspring.

In 1723, on the second anniversary of the conclusion of the Peace of Nystad, the meeting of the boat on Fleet Day became a tradition. By decision of the Tsar, the “grandfather of the Russian fleet” was brought to St. Petersburg from Moscow. He was solemnly greeted on May 30, 1723 on the Neva near the walls of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery by the Nevsky Fleet, a flotilla of private ships in St. Petersburg. Accompanied by them, the boat moved to the Peter and Paul Fortress, which saluted him with 31 shots. As a sign of greeting, three salvos were also fired from the side of the boat.

The first meeting of the boat with warships of the Baltic Fleet took place on August 11, 1723, and the parade of ships took place in the Kronstadt roadstead. The ships, decorated with signal flags and lined up, saluted the boat walking along the line, driven by Peter I himself in the role of quartermaster and under the name of Admiral Peter Mikhailov. Behind the oars were Vice Admirals Pyotr Ivanovich Sievers and Thomas Gordon, Rear Admirals Naum Akimovich Senyavin and Thomas Sanders.

Vice Admiral Alexander Danilovich Menshikov performed the duties of a lot. Feydzechmeister of the fleet (chief artilleryman) Otto Christian was a gunner. The boat was commanded by 62-year-old Admiral General Fedor Matveevich Apraksin, a participant in the Azov campaign, the capture of Vyborg and the Battle of Gangut. Towing boats from the fleet's flagship, the boat solemnly walked along formation 21 battleship and other ships. More than 1.5 thousand guns saluted him. Botik responded with shots from his cannons.

After this grandiose naval parade, Peter I ordered: “On the 30th of August, for celebration, the boat should be brought out to the water every day and kept at the Alexander Nevsky Monastery.” However, after the death of the emperor, the tradition was no longer observed, and the practice of naval parades became irregular.

Isolated cases of naval parades are noted by historians at the turn of the 18th-19th century and in early XIX century.

Under Catherine II in 1796, the parade took place on the occasion of the departure of the squadron of Admiral G.A. Spiridov to the Mediterranean Sea for the war with Turkey, and during the reign of Alexander I, the highest review of the squadron of Admiral D.N. Senyavin.

On the occasion of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg on May 16, 1803, a meeting was held with the “grandfather of the Russian fleet”, which was placed on board the waist of the 110-gun ship “Gabriel”, which stood on the Neva next to Senate Square. The honorary guards of the boat were four hundred-year-old sailors of the Peter the Great era.

In 1828, a similar review of the squadron of the same Admiral D.N. Senyavin with the participation of the boat was conducted by Nicholas I. last time the boat was shown to the fleet at a naval parade in 1836. Then the boat was installed on the Hercules steamship. All the ships of the Baltic Fleet were lined up under the flag of 84-year-old Admiral Roman Krone on the Kronstadt roadstead in three lines, and at the signal from the emperor, the Hercules with a boat on the deck passed between the lines of ships, accepting honors. Foreign ships also took part in the parade at that time.

In the middle of the 19th century, the tradition from the time of Peter I was revived. Ship parades and gun salutes began to be held on July 27. IN late XIX century, during the reign Alexandra III and Nicholas II, the number of highest reviews and naval parades decreased again.

The last major naval parade in the era Imperial Russia became a celebration on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of St. Petersburg in 1903. Ship reviews were also practiced during visits of foreign high-ranking persons to Russia, but there was no need to talk about the constancy or tradition of such events.

The tradition of holding naval parades returns after the 1917 revolution. The leadership of the young Soviet Republic made the viewing of ships a regular event during the revolutionary holidays of May 1 and November 7.

Since 1920, at the suggestion of the Headquarters naval forces The Baltic Sea on the day closest to May 18 in Petrograd began to celebrate Red Fleet Day. On this day (May 7, old style) in 1703, the Russian regular fleet won its first victory in the Baltic, capturing the Swedish boat Gedan and the ship Astrild. Subsequently, this day began to be considered the day of the emergence of the Baltic Fleet.

In the 1920s, parades of ships of the Baltic Fleet and water sports festivals were held on the Neva. The facades of the buildings were decorated with state and naval symbols and colorful flags. The sailors marched solemnly to the sounds of an orchestra along Uritsky Square (Palace Square). Then a sports festival was held on the square, and the Red Navy men demonstrated their strength and dexterity. The culmination of the sports festival was the tug-of-war competition. The leadership of the young Soviet Republic made the viewing of ships a regular event during the revolutionary holidays of May 1 and November 7. However, Red Fleet Day was celebrated only for several years in a row and gradually faded away.

In the USSR, the holiday was first celebrated as Navy Day on July 24, 1939. After the Great Patriotic War, naval parades began to be organized again as part of the main naval holiday. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated October 1, 1980 “On holidays and memorable days»The date of the celebration of Navy Day has been moved to the last Sunday of July.

From the first years, after its official introduction, Navy Day has been a review of the achievements of domestic military shipbuilding and the successes of Navy personnel in combat training.
