How to become disciplined as an adult. Everything should be in place. "-" the brain resists abrupt changes

Weakling, sucker, rag, heel, sycophant! How do you sometimes want to scoff yourself with such words! After all, this is the only thing that at least slightly softens the resentment and anger at oneself.

Hello dear readers of the Successful. In this article, I would like to be very frank and straightforward to talk with you about self-discipline. After all, this is the skill, the quality that determines our life. Just compare the two options: Vasya makes eye contact when talking, knows how to refuse, believes in his own strength, meets new people, and Petya is constantly, afraid to go beyond and has long been disillusioned with any dreams.

What makes them different? Self respect- that's what. internal state creates difference, and that, in turn, is generated by daily self-discipline. By learning to create this state, which means learning to discipline yourself, you will gain confidence, feel the power over life, be able to control more spineless people and, as a result, increase your weight in society. And these are not empty promises. Deep down you yourself understand that by winning step by step, you will radically change and be able to achieve crazy goals.

This is all good, but what exactly needs to be done? What to do if the struggle goes "through force" and failures constantly occur? The fact is that…

You don't need to overpower yourself

Yes, I dare to issue such a statement. But here is simple mathematics: if a person has motivation, which constantly pushes him towards development, then the struggle against oneself no longer seems such a disgusting occupation.

Our whole question is to deeply understand your motives and find this very motivation. Why self-discipline at all? Why change something?

If you're just getting to the boiling point and want to fix your joints all at once, that's great, but terribly short-lived. Probably you have already faced a situation when you seem to have changed your life, but after 3 days, satisfaction came, and the phrase “I'm great, I need to allow myself to relax” ruined all plans. After her, everything returned to normal, because the necessary habit did not have time to gain a foothold and was captured by the past comfort zone. Yes, you have changed, but how long did it last? Are you 100% satisfied with the result?

So it turns out that self-discipline like a salute - he shot, was glad and threw it away. There is no power in it unless there is a deep guide nearby. motive... So when we want to change something, we must first connect these two things at the same time and only then get to work.

How do you find your motive? Where to find it?

The most important thing

So: you need to look for motivation in yourself, constantly deepening questions. You need to catch the thought that will constantly inspire you to change, for the sake of which you will want to get up in the morning and work, work, work, honing your character. In this case, you only need discipline for "difficult" days.

Finding the cherished motivating thought will help the question "why". For example, “Why should I go to the gym?

  • Then, to look beautiful. Why would I look pretty? To please the girls. Why do I like girls? Then, to be able to choose. Why would I be able to choose? Then, to find the same one - the same sporty and smart;)

  • Then, to be healthy. What for? To feel better. What for? To live a better life.

  • Then, to show off to friends the form on the beach. What for? To feel superior. What for? To feel confident.

When you choose the most motivating statement for yourself, you can constantly scroll it in your head, and this will become an argument in favor of one or another action. Indeed, after all, the process of self-discipline is an eternal choice between do / not do, and depending on how strong the reasons, one side or another wins.

What's happened strong reason? It is as accurate and as possible well-aimed argument. That is, not just “live better” or “be healthier”, but for example “set an example for children”, “surpass Seryoga”. It is necessary to find even a small, but the most catchy thought and return to it as often as possible.

To find your motivation, you can also use the list below.

List of motivations

  • Do it for the family (specifically for the wife / husband, parents or children)
  • Do this for the benefit of society (for example, 1000 rubles that you spent on cigarettes, spend on charity)
  • Argue with friends, cause a ruckus
  • Record a "hard" video message on your phone; watch it every morning
  • Measure progress, praise yourself

That's all, the most the main part of the article behind... As a micro conclusion, let's repeat the main points.

  1. Without intrinsic motivation, self-discipline is ineffective and leads to breakdowns.
  2. To find motivation, you need to find, albeit frivolous, but the most accurate reason for justifying your actions.
  3. To do this, you need to constantly deepen questions and delve into your true desires.

Little things

Try starting small: stop biting your nails, stop clicking your fingers, and always throw your gum in the trash. By disciplining yourself in small things, you getting used to work on yourself, you get used to giving all the best and bringing the matter to the end.

This is especially noticeable in people who have achieved results in sports. They know how to control themselves, since their character has already been formed in training. When they have to make the last approach, run the last kilometer or score the last decisive goal, they go through hard internal struggle and in the end they win. In life, meeting with the same feeling, they are already prepared and, thanks to past victories, believe in themselves. (By the way, here's another motive to play sports)

Little by little

1% - I have such a screensaver on my phone. I put it on because I believe that daily taking a small step towards your goal, you can achieve incredible results in a year. Just 1% per day will create a huge gap between you and your competitors.

In our case, your competitor is yourself. You are old and you are new. It is unlikely that it will be possible to immediately separate them and throw them away from each other. You need to gradually turn aside, "reduce the dose" of unacceptable behavior. What is worth not smoking a cigarette, giving up the last glass, reading a page at night, pushing out 20 times in the morning? Nothing, if you do not waste time and money on trifles! Two to three weeks and this behavior will become a habit, you will automatically be drawn to work on yourself. It will be difficult only at the beginning, when you see the result, then activate additional strength in yourself and discipline is practically not needed.

Replacement

An important aspect is that a new one must be replaced in the place of the old habit. Otherwise, the body will not rebuild and will again return your thoughts to ways of improper time spending. What else can he do? He acts according to his algorithms - he tries to keep you busy.

Just as smokers switch to electronic cigarettes and suck lollipops, you must come up with a replacement for yourself. For instance:

Gradually, you will reduce the level of addiction, and in the process you can also find a new hobby.

Relaxation

Self-discipline, like willpower, can be compared to a muscle - training it strengthens, but overtraining it can be disrupted. So no one canceled the rest and fasting days! From time to time, allow yourself to be harmful and "bad" behavior, most importantly - without unnecessary reproaches and remorse.

Goals

To discipline yourself, write down your goals for the next day every night and naturally follow through with them. Firstly, this is how you develop in small things (also try to force yourself to write when pulling under the covers), and secondly, it greatly increases the productivity of the day.

Still need to write specific goals that you want to achieve from all your actions. Now we are back to the beginning: why do you need self-discipline and self-control? What exactly do you want to achieve? Let's say you have already found your motivation - then write it down on paper and put it in a prominent place. Look there more often so that life circumstances and routine do not lead you astray. remember, that the brain can hold only one thought at a time, and it is better to be a goal than distractions. In this case, it will be easier to organize yourself, because thoughts will not diverge from actions.

Honesty to yourself

Admit that you are really mowing. Well, you don't like to live such a life, deep down your behavior is disgusting to you. Instant pleasure brings you only disappointment and dissatisfaction, with every indulgence you feel more and more weak. In a word - lousy at heart.

But! All is not yet lost. After accusations and self-flagellation, you need to move on to the positive side. Develop a strong belief that your life needs to change and the source of change is you yourself ... Only you can fix everything, only you will work and raise self-esteem from your knees.

Think about it, for example when washing dishes. Make an adult decision to change everything, because it all starts with him... Once you take responsibility, there will be no room for excuses and the game will go full force.

Dream

Dream often and imagine all the best that will happen to you after the changes. After all, without dreams, all life will turn into gray everyday life, and we do not need self-discipline, or goals, or work on ourselves. What for? Is there nothing to do?

You can also play in contrast: first, imagine disappointment, pain and anger from failure, and then happiness, joy and pride from the result. After all, as the sages of past years wrote, everything that controls a person is a feeling of pain and pleasure.

Environment

Having the right environment is one of the most important foundations of self-discipline. Moreover, the environment is not only people, but also things. Remove anything that confuses you on the right track: unsubscribe from “harmful” YouTube channels, throw away your cigarettes, give away your minibar. Only, as we have already found out, all this must be replaced somehow. For example, posting reminders on the walls, subscribing to educational blogs, or starting to read books.

Health

If you are physically broken, you will be mentally broken. I guess I say this in every article, but only because it is very important. You need to keep your "reservoir" clean and healthy, then the brain will work better, and self-discipline will not seem so boring.

What is needed for that? Just 3 things: get enough sleep, eat right, and exercise.

Conclusion

Remember: no habits, no circumstances have no right to rule your life... You must first of all respect yourself and act according to your conscience, and not according to fleeting desires.

I hope these techniques will help you become more disciplined and finally feel your inner core. Let's remember them.

  1. Finding a deep motive is nowhere without it
  2. Practice the little things
  3. Move 1% per day - be ahead of all your friends in a year
  4. Find a replacement so that you do not return to the old one later

If you think you don't have discipline, then you don't need it. What you need is a goal that captivates you. If there is a goal, there will be time to achieve it, which you yourself will want to organize competently and effectively. For this reason, I think that the importance of discipline for success is, to put it mildly, exaggerated. Most people lack motivation: a sincere desire to achieve their goal by all means.

Many people think that discipline is some kind of magical quality to be born with. Like, someone is given, but someone, no matter how hard you try, is not. Others believe that discipline can be developed through a long drill, both in the literal sense (many say army discipline) and figuratively. But still I would like to figure out what we mean when we say this word, "discipline"?

If I wake up early every morning to study English, is that a discipline? Most people will answer: of course. I will say that the last thing I think of myself as a disciplined person.

Discipline is the natural outcome of motivation

How do I explain the fact that I woke up at 5 in the morning in order to study English? Very simple: I have a very high level of motivation. I wake up early in the morning because I really want to wake up and do my language. I am encouraged by my desire to spend calm, fresh morning hours preparing for international exams. I know that at work I have to work, not study. And I also know that my brains leave a lot to be desired after work: all the information they can absorb is a couple of the Desperate Housewives episode. So when else to study, if not in the morning?

So it turns out that discipline is such a strange term, which, if you look at it, includes the upcoming award (I will pass the exam!) And the desire to be better in the eyes of other people and set an example for them (my friends thought hard about their own goals, on who have no time, after a month of my "ups"). What else is included in this concept? Certainly, positive thinking and commitment to your goals. I tell myself that I can do anything, and I really can do anything. I strongly doubt that without these points I would have had any kind of "discipline". After all, what is important is not the very fact of early waking up, a rigid schedule, the constant performance of some tasks, but what we are doing all this for.

Respectively, Right way to discipline - finding your motivation. Guided by this simple conclusion, I can give some advice to those who dream of being disciplined.

Getting disciplined

  1. First tip: pick one habit and insert it into your schedule without changing anything else yet. Don't try to immediately become a model of discipline and a competent routine. Just do the same action at the same time day after day. Are you dreaming of losing weight? Do gymnastics. Want to learn a language? Get busy at last. Time to save up for repairs? Find a part-time job that you can devote one to two hours a day to. Anything.
  2. Second tip: "Write down" this habit... What does it mean? This means that the actions that you do, you do to achieve certain goals. What are these goals? What do you want to achieve in a week, in a month, in a year? This is necessary so that you yourself can clearly see why you are doing, and keep your motivation in good shape. Let's go back to the example with foreign languages... If you just want to "learn", you don't have to start: after a week your maximum efforts will come to naught. What do you want to learn for? What will it give you? Only by answering these questions will you be able to move on. No sane person would waste their time doing something “simple”. Everything must have a reason.
  3. Third tip: always remember your new habit... Don't let current affairs and surprises get in the way of your daily activities. If you feel your motivation is dropping, reanimate it immediately. Remind yourself of the goals, visualize them (hang a beautiful poster with the city of your dreams in front of the table if you want to travel, for example). After all, blogging. Inspire others and be inspired yourself.

Observing these simple rules, you will find that discipline is not a “magic tool” for achieving goals, but the natural result of correct and inexhaustible motivation, and it is not at all difficult to make yourself a disciplined person.

Today we will figure out how to develop discipline. What does the term mean? This is a set of certain rules for the behavior of an individual, corresponding to the norms established in society or the requirements for observing a certain routine. How to educate her, and why she is actually needed, we will find out in the article.

The attitude to discipline is different

Some, consciously or unconsciously, treat discipline with caution and negativity, believing that this quality fetters freedom, makes unhappy and forces strict adherence to order.

Not disciplined person absent-minded, disorganized, unpredictable, vulnerable, unreliable. Moreover, the individual is a prisoner of his own fears, laziness, is a hostage of desires. He does not control the change of mood, is not able to influence doubts.

And such people often do not achieve success in life, arguing this with imaginary freedom, by the fact that they are free in their actions, and are not obliged to fulfill the assigned tasks, to follow the prevailing conditions and foundations.

How to draw a portrait of a disciplined person

First of all, he is reliable, keeps his word. Its energetic strength helps in achieving the goal. Discipline blocks internal contradictions and laziness. She deliberately switches her mind to the search for motivation to overcome difficulties and implement her own task. It's like with a morning jog: the next day, laziness overcomes, but an organized person continues the planned training course without any doubts. Because it becomes a part of his life.

It is discipline that gives freedom and confidence. The first manifests itself in the choice of a goal, helps to throw off the shackles of one's own vices and weaknesses, protects against external factors that hinder its achievement. And confidence gives a guarantee that you will achieve the set task, because there is an internal organization.

How to develop discipline in yourself?

1. The first thing to do is to understand its importance and significance. Let's move on to the exercises:

  • Give about ten examples of how self-discipline contributes to the achievement of a goal.
  • Write a short essay on the sheet about her power.

2. Find the motivation to develop self-discipline. So:

  • Mark 20 strong reasons why you need it.
  • Write down on 5 sheets emotionally and colorfully, juicy, what you will become after developing self-discipline.
  • And then also brightly about his new future.

3. Create a rhythm of life that will bring up this quality. This will help a visit to the gym or fitness club, for example, three times a week after work and two on weekends. They perfectly organize classes in any martial art or sport (for example, hockey).

4. Change your thinking. Learn to self-control. Affirmations and attending special psychological trainings will help with this.

These are just a few of the methods for developing discipline. In fact, there are many of them. The main thing is not to be lazy, but to work through the information about them and find the ones that are convenient for you.

About willpower

It is inextricably linked to discipline. It needs to be developed to be successful. This is a conscious submission of oneself to the rules and norms that have developed in society, as well as the creation of certain conditions for overcoming difficulties at the time of the need to control one's internal and external actions.

A person with this quality acquires many new useful characteristics, such as high self-esteem, self-control, stress resistance, organization. Moreover, a person reaches heights, develops positive thinking, acquires communication skills, gets rid of bad habits, not finding meaning in them, and so on. And yet, how to develop discipline and willpower?

These tips will also help build discipline, so:

1. Give up bad habits. Take a detached view of your life, identify those that are not beneficial, and start working to eliminate them. And here's the exercise:

  • If you want to quit smoking, test yourself with temptation. It is difficult, but effective. Whenever a hand reaches for a cigarette in front of your eyes, pull yourself back.

2. Learn to switch attention. This is the reverse of the previous method. When you feel like smoking, think of something else, remember a bright moment in your life, dream about the upcoming vacation.

3. Getting rid of bad habits, come up with new useful ones. For example, start jogging in the morning, exercise, put things away in certain places, introduce fish into your diet once a week, and so on. The main thing is to perform the action systematically.

4. Stick to the regime.

5. Make a plan for the day, week.

6. Always get the job done without leaving anything for tomorrow.

7. Exercise, eat right, meditate.

8. Be neat, always watch your appearance and health, this is half the battle.

There is another powerful method: make a promise to someone. And you will strive to fulfill it so as not to be branded as idle talk and irresponsible. Reinforce the work done with praise, reward yourself for any achievements. Don't use words with negative value, such as "I can not", "I will not", "I will not work", "I will not cope" and so on. And follow the actions, how much you ate and what, write down, for example, how much time you spent in front of the TV. To train will and character, replace useless activities with cleaning the house, playing sports, and so on.

In general, in any process of education, the fundamental and the main role parents play. Of course, the environment of the child has a tremendous impact on the formation of qualities, but it is in the family that the foundation of a strong personal skeleton of the baby is laid. So how to develop the discipline that should be Special attention:

  1. The family must strictly adhere to the established rules (rituals and traditions). For example, this is the daily routine, pastime, and so on.
  2. It is important for parents to stay consistent. If the father punishes, the mother should not interfere with educational process, otherwise the child will not understand why he received the censure. It is necessary to strictly determine the punishment for the offense, then the child will know what to expect for the offense.
  3. You cannot overdo it with punishment, so that the child does not close in himself and does not harbor resentment.
  4. Confirm educational methods by example. If you scold for a mess on your desktop, and you are even worse off with it, he will not understand the lesson.

Let's figure out further how to educate a child's discipline. There are, of course, exceptions to the rules, when a baby, for example, missed a nap, thus breaking the daily routine. In this case, it is simply necessary to explain the reason for the violation of the schedule so that there are no further failures.

Be firm while staying kind

The biggest mistake parents make is duplicity. This is when the child is hugged and praised, and a minute later they shout with all their might, waving their fists for the offense. You cannot achieve anything with screams and tantrums, you need to remain calm and restrained, remain soft and friendly even at the moment of punishment, so that the baby is not frightened and understands his wrongdoing. Severity and seriousness in voice and demeanor is enough.

It is necessary to communicate with the child correctly

This is a direct guarantee of successful discipline education. Understand that the child cannot read your thoughts. It is necessary to talk and take into account the opinion of a small, but already individual. Take an interest in his life, achievements in the garden, school. Praise, reward for good results. Share your joy and news. If the child does not understand any rules, write on a sheet, attach in a visible place, explain calmly, several times until he understands them.

And also, always be fair. You can not punish children without reason, and then regret the deed. If there is definitely guilt, follow the promised punishment so that the next time the child understands what he will expect for the offense.

The main thing is to surround the child with warmth, care, affection, so that he understands that the family is a reliable fortress, where they will always listen and help to cope with any misfortune. It is important. Stay a friend, learn to build such a relationship with a small person so that she is not afraid to come home with a problem. Having a reliable, trusting connection, you can easily bring up a disciplined, organized, decent, purposeful person.

So now we know how to develop discipline in a child and an adult. The main thing is to have patience and endurance in any process, to set life priorities correctly, to strive for the best, to self-develop, to improve, because there is no limit to this. And only then will you be truly happy and fortunate.

When people come across the word "discipline," they resent it. Many went through their childhood trying to discipline them. Often, those who resisted were severely punished. Parents tried to instill in us good quality, however, their methods were so unpleasant and cruel that they all developed negative attitude to discipline - a quality that helps in achieving goals. And this raises the question of how to discipline yourself.

Let's start by defining discipline - what is it? This is a kind of self-restraint, which implies adherence to certain rules. A person takes a submissive position in relation to certain algorithms, rules, laws, etc. Discipline can be compared to obedience to the law - when a person knows the laws and adheres to them, does not break. However, discipline may not always be punished, especially if it comes about an adult.

Today, the cult of freedom has become widespread. A person should be free .. Many people understand freedom to be the ability to do whatever they want. However, psychologists consider freedom a person's ability to live to please his desires, to achieve them. Feel the difference between doing whatever comes into your head and realizing your desires.

A natural question arises: why become disciplined? This quality, according to psychologists, helps in the realization of their desires. In other words, a disciplined person becomes successful, happy. He can achieve whatever he wants, and not just waste time trying to prove that he has freedom.

A disciplined person is a free person because he can have whatever he wants. Those people who avoid discipline, but shout about their freedom, are unhappy and limited. They are not free from their freedom, while the disciplined person becomes free, achieving their goals through the use of discipline.

What is discipline? This is the observance of specific rules that help to achieve the goal. A person simply performs those actions that will lead him to the goal, and controls this process. This is self-discipline.

How to discipline yourself?

To discipline yourself, you need to have a goal. Desire disciplines a person because it forces him to adhere to specific rules if he wants to achieve something. Rules are external and internal. For a disciplined person, it doesn't matter who invented them. If they help him achieve his goals, then they must be adhered to.

Disciplined people are people of order. They understand that everything in this world is natural. If you do not follow the order, then everything will be destroyed, go "somehow", not be in the control zone. People striving for freedom live somehow. And people who keep order gradually achieve the life they want to live.

People who discipline themselves become successful people. They know how to control the process, translate negative events into beneficial ones, maintain balance and order. This may seem boring to some. However, mastery is achieved only by establishing certain rules and adhering to them. Here you need to be able to obey those laws that help in achieving goals.

A leader, chief, commander, manager, president, etc. is a person who is at the head of a structure that should work under his leadership and achieve certain goals. Thus, a leader is not just the ability to command someone (as many people dream when organizing their own business), but also the ability to build plans, strictly follow them, be responsible for all the actions of his subordinates and, accordingly, get the results to which he brought his structure. A Skillful Leader Must Have certain qualities character, knowledge and willpower. Also, the leader adheres to some rules.

Self-discipline is a faithful assistant in achieving any goals. How to educate her in yourself? This does not require an iron will and nerves. You just need to clearly define your goals and plans to achieve them. As soon as you have a concrete picture of what you are going to move towards, then self-discipline arises as if by itself, and emotions and desires replace the iron will. And then when you set tasks for yourself, be sure to complete them. However, this process is tedious to control, since a person sometimes wants to get away from his own affairs in order to be lazy.

Be your own boss and subordinate. As a leader, you should not think that others will do your work for you, since you then become an extra link. You must be able to both develop a strategy, give instructions and control the course of events, as well as implement plans, perform routine work and obey your own instructions. Any excuses and references to difficulties should be immediately cut off by you as a boss. You must control that your old habits, which are inherent in the subordinate, do not allow you to retire. Otherwise, how can you control others if you cannot control yourself?

The leader adheres to another special rule, which is not inherent in all people, is to be honest with yourself. If you lie to yourself and try to somehow justify yourself, then no constructive results for you this occupation will not bring. As long as you deceive yourself, you will not be able to see the situation as a whole, which will close from you various opportunities for achieving goals in any business. You can pretend that you are busy all day, but if this does not lead to positive results, then you are actually being deceived. A leader always adheres to the rule of being honest with himself, otherwise he simply will not be able to see other opportunities for promoting any business, because he runs away from reality in attempts to deceive himself.

Ask yourself the question every night: "What have I done today for constructive results?" You should focus on today's result, not the one that was 5-10 months ago. Answer yourself honestly how productive you were on the day.

It is very easy to deceive yourself. You promise yourself something, make some plans in your head. Days go by, and your memory blurs the boundaries of some of your promises, depending on whether you kept them or not. It will seem to you that you really did a lot, although it was just your memory that erased some plans that were unfavorable to you. Therefore, any leader keeps his plans and goals in writing. It is your notes that will help you really look at how you keep your own promises. In this case, self-justification and excuses will no longer help you, since what is written and done will clearly show the results of your activity or inaction.

Self-criticism and self-praise are inherent in a leader who really looks at the state of affairs in his structure. Criticism allows him to improve himself, and praise allows him to experience pleasant feelings for the work done. But this is only in the case when the assessment of a person is objective, and not far-fetched.

The rules of a good leader are available to all people. However, it depends only on yourself whether you will reach any heights in own business or you will continue to fail because of self-deception. If you really strive for something, then you have to take the position of a leader who adheres to certain rules.

How to Become Disciplined?

To become disciplined, you must adhere to a certain routine that is established solely by you, depending on the goals that you want to achieve. The goal requires the performance of certain actions at a specific time and subject to conditions. If all this is not adhered to, then the goal will not be achieved. If a person understands this, then he himself sets the rules that he will adhere to, whether they were invented by him or taken from outside.

Written notes will help you to maintain discipline:

  1. Goal - state what you want to achieve.
  2. A list of actions that need to be taken to achieve the goal.
  3. The timing of their accomplishment - when will you begin to perform the desired actions?
  4. Possible difficulties that may overtake you when taking specific actions.
  5. Ways to overcome these difficulties, if any.
  6. Report - what did you do, what happened, how did you deal with it?

After drawing up the plan, you need to move on to its implementation. Take action, make notes, re-read your notes. If something is not going in the direction of your goal, you need to rethink your action plan. Perhaps something was not taken into account, it is necessary to act differently. Stick to the plan, but be flexible if your strategy doesn't work.

If the goal is not achieved, do not lose heart. Discipline involves controlling their own emotions by a person who does not lose heart, but revises his strategy in order to make new plan action.

To discipline yourself, you should adhere to these rules:

  • Give up unnecessary things that take time and energy.
  • Give yourself adequate rest, sleep and food to have enough energy.
  • Praise yourself for the first results you have achieved in order to celebrate the correctness of the actions taken.
  • Stick to rules that tell you what needs to be done to get what you want.
  • Learn to focus your attention on important and necessary points, cutting off everything else.
  • Control your emotions, do not allow yourself liberties and relaxation.
  • Manage your life and resources on your own, not allowing anyone to do it for you.

How to discipline a child?

Discipline is usually taught from childhood. All parents want to discipline their children. However, as already stated, many are doing it wrong. The main mistake in teaching a child is to severely punish him for disobedience and lack of discipline. As a result, this leads to a negative attitude of the child towards this quality.

To discipline your child, follow these guidelines:

  1. Praise your child for their accomplishments. Do this only after the fact of what has been achieved.
  2. Give your child the choice to make them feel independent and responsible for their promises.
  3. Create or train the child to get into a supportive environment in which the implementation of the planned actions will lead to the desired result.
  4. Create rules and restrictions for the child within the family, adhering to which he will receive praise. He must understand that only by performing the "correct" actions, he will achieve the desired result. Here it is necessary to be interested in what the child wants to receive in a given situation.

Outcome

Discipline is a state that a person chooses himself, who wants to live the way he wants. Free people go with the flow, and disciplined individuals acquire a boat and oars and row in the direction they want to go.

When people come across the word "discipline," they resent it. Many went through their childhood trying to discipline them. Often, those who resisted were severely punished. Our parents tried to instill a good quality in us, but their methods were so unpleasant and cruel that everyone developed a negative attitude towards discipline - a quality that helps in achieving goals. And this raises the question of how to discipline yourself.

Why discipline problems arise

Let's start by defining discipline - what is it? This is a kind of self-restraint, which implies adherence to certain rules. A person takes a submissive position in relation to certain algorithms, rules, laws, etc. Discipline can be compared to obedience to the law - when a person knows the laws and adheres to them, does not break. However, violation of discipline does not always lead to punishment, especially when it comes to an adult.

Today, the cult of freedom has become widespread. A person must be free. However, many people do not understand what this means. Many people understand by freedom the ability to do whatever they want.

Let's take a step-by-step look at everything that needs to be done to cultivate self-discipline.

1. To love discipline and learn to perceive it as a great blessing. Exercises:

  • Describe at least 10 examples of how discipline, self-discipline helps a person achieve his goal and desired happiness!
  • Write an essay on the topic “Discipline is my strength!”. Believe me, such essays are incredibly helpful and very effective. The essay should be at least 1 page.

2. Build a powerful motivation for Self-Discipline. Exercises:

  • Write in your workbook(not skimping on words and paper) at least 20 significant reasons - why do you need Discipline?
  • Describe (on paper) in colors, with examples and images - how will you, your personality, change when you cultivate self-discipline in yourself? (minimum 5 pages)
  • Describe as vividly as possible - how will your life and fate change when you discipline yourself? (minimum 5 pages)

3. Create the rhythms of life that discipline you! Something that will help you build the correct and effective rhythm. Sports very well in solving this problem, any sport sections... For example, you start visiting a fitness club, gym - 3 times in the morning (before work) and 3 times in the evening (on other days). Morning yoga, running, and more will help you. Also, they discipline martial arts well, I recommend.

Fill your life with other disciplinary activities as well. It's very good to start attending personal growth trainings, including discipline.

Learn to consciously manage yourself - master self-hypnosis and affirmations. To do this, read the relevant articles on the links. For instance:

  • “I control myself, I subjugate mine inner world to their goals ”
  • “I include activity, joy and strength to achieve my Goal”
  • "I turn off, I burn out laziness and passivity"
  • "I awaken the will, all the forces towards the goal"

Such commands of self-hypnosis switch your consciousness into an active mode of operation in order to turn off weakness and interfering manifestations, turn on the will, induce energy and take action.

Sleep on schedule

Set the optimal time for yourself to get up in the morning and fall asleep in the evening. You know perfectly well what time you need to wake up in order to calmly get ready for work and be there on time. You also know how many hours of sleep you need to get enough sleep and feel good all day. Each person has all this individually, so make yourself a schedule that will be most convenient for you. And strictly follow it. It will be difficult only at first, then it will be very easy for you to follow these rules.

If you suddenly break the schedule, then punish yourself - no matter how ridiculous it may sound. The punishment can be anything - thirty push-ups from the floor, depriving yourself of your favorite cake, and so on. And of course, the less you violate the established framework, the easier it will be for you to comply with them in the future.

Sports activities

Any sport disciplines a person, if, of course, you take it seriously. Find a sport that you like and enroll in the appropriate section. You will be attending classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, for example, from 6 pm to 7.30 pm. If you do not miss classes without a good reason, then adhering to this schedule will teach you discipline in other areas of life.

You can also go in for sports on your own, for example, jogging in the morning for a certain amount of time or doing a set of exercises. However, it will be somewhat more difficult to force yourself to do it regularly, since you know that no one will control you and scold you for poor results, and besides, the money for the missed lesson will not be wasted, as is the case with visiting the section. In addition to developing discipline in oneself, playing sports carries another indisputable advantage - good health and a beautiful body.

Daily Schedule

Get yourself a small notebook or diary where you write down all the important things that you need to do. And write them down in this format: task - estimated time to complete - priority. If you can accurately determine how long it will take you to complete each task, it will help you calculate how many tasks you can actually complete in one day. The priority of the task must be determined in order to understand which task can be transferred to the next day in case of lack of time, and which cannot. For example, you can nail the shelf tomorrow, but today it is better to visit your grandmother, because you promised her a long time ago.

When it comes to work responsibilities, then consider not only the urgency of the task, but also the likelihood that you may have to redo or modify it.

And the last thing. Forget the phrases "I am a weak-willed person", "this is too difficult for me", "I am too lazy and will be lazy all my life." All these are just excuses for those who do not want to change anything in their lives. And if you repeat such phrases to yourself, then do not expect any internal motivation and will - they will not appear. Tell yourself that whatever you set out, you will succeed. And then you will see how inner strength will begin to fill you and it will not be difficult for you to maintain self-discipline.
