About the university

Siberian Federal University is an example of effective public-private partnership in the field of science and education. The strategic goals for the development of the Krasnoyarsk Territory determined the directions of interaction between the state and business. The federation, the region and private structures participate in the formation of the university. Today the university has concluded almost 70 agreements with strategic employer partners. For three years, the university has consistently pursued a policy of close interaction with the largest Russian and foreign enterprises that operate in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This is not only clear agreements on the required competencies for university students, but also the creation of basic departments at enterprises, the allocation of personalized scholarships from enterprises, the organization of summer internships, the attraction of company specialists for master classes at the university, the creation of joint research and production centers with enterprises, as, for example, with the Krasnoyarsk Non-Ferrous Metals Plant named after Gulidov.

A striking example of partnership was a pilot project for training specialists for the largest oil company Rosneft. The company is building a building for the Institute of Oil and Gas on the campus and has invested 890 million rubles in its construction. The first stage of the institute building will be commissioned in September 2010. In turn, the university, with the active support of the region and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, ensures that students are trained in accordance with new requirements for technologies and specializations. At the same time, the company also supports the preparation of schoolchildren for subsequent studies at the university through Rosneft classes.

Last year, the university won the competition of the Vankorneft company for conducting environmental monitoring of the state of the environment during the construction and operation of a section of the main oil pipeline. Several large scientific projects have been launched commissioned by the Information Satellite Systems company named after. Academician M.F. Reshetnev" on providing the GLONASS network, designing on-board radio-electronic equipment and others. At the request of the enterprises RUSAL-Achinsk and Vasilyevsky Mine, the university carries out work to develop projects for the reconstruction of the deposit's quarries and identify prospects for gold mining. Joint projects have been implemented with the National Personnel Training Fund, the Federal Space Agency, NATO grants have been won for the creation of a regional scientific and educational network and a Rosnauka grant for the development of nanoindustry infrastructure in the Russian Federation. Among the winners of the competition for student projects “Development Energy - 2009”, held by RusHydro, are students of the Siberian Federal University.

Graduates of technical specialties have no problems with internships and employment: Krastsvetmet, Rusal, and Norilsk Nickel plants are ready to accept them. And this is only in the region. Young engineers from Krasnoyarsk are in demand by enterprises in St. Petersburg, Kostroma, Novosibirsk... Thus, the current engineering and technical staff of the plant of the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold named after Gulidov are mostly graduates of the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science of Siberian Federal University. Today, future specialists in mining, geology and geotechnology undergo practical training at the Taimyrsky and Oktyabrsky mines, the Nickel Plant in Norilsk, and the Talnakhskoye and Norilsk-1 mines.

The university's partners pay 315 personal scholarships to support talented undergraduate and graduate students in the amount of over 12 million rubles. The university's partner companies sponsor academic exchange programs and educational activities. With the participation of private companies and university graduates, the endowment fund is replenished.

INTEGRATION OF SCIENTIFIC AND EDUCATIONAL PROCESSES

You can get an education at the Siberian Federal University in 122 specialties and 50 areas. The educational process is built according to international standards. According to the Bologna system, bachelor's and master's degrees were introduced. A certified master can devote himself to science and enter graduate school. The university offers postgraduate training in 116 specialties.

SFU receives education from students from Russia and other countries of the world. It supports a system of “double diplomas” with universities in Europe, Asia and America. Hundreds of foreign students come here as part of various educational and cultural exchange programs, and SFU students travel abroad. University students have access to lectures by world-class specialists. In 2010 alone, the university will be visited by almost 200 visiting professors, of which 100 are leading scientists from England, Germany, Spain, the USA and other countries.
The university provides unprecedented opportunities for the development of practical and scientific components of education. Over the past two years, over 2.5 billion rubles have been spent on updating the material and technical base. Federal funds were allocated to:

* formation of collective use centers (CCCs) with unique equipment in the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, materials science, and space technology;
* formation of 86 resource centers with scientific and educational equipment, allowing to combine student training with high-class scientific research;
* organization of an electronic library, which can be considered as a world-class information core for public libraries, university libraries and libraries of scientific institutes throughout Siberia;
* support for internships for university employees in Russian and foreign universities and large companies.

The High Performance Computing Center, created at the university, provides modern computing power and engineering calculations to specialists in a variety of research fields.

The SibFU Shared Use Center is an element of the infrastructure of the university’s innovation system and allows solving large-scale interdisciplinary problems in the field of high technologies, including nanotechnologies. To conduct scientific research, the Center uses about one hundred unique instruments and installations. The presence of highly qualified specialists at the center and unique equipment, which has virtually no analogues in the world, makes it possible to conduct highly complex research at the highest global level.

The university has: a supercomputer, which is included in the “Top 50” of the most powerful computers in Russia; stations for receiving space information and seismic exploration; observatory; equipped with a weather station and a lunar-planetary camera; complexes of installations for physical and chemical research; a complex of laboratories: biotechnological, clinical-biological, nanotechnological, electronics laboratory.

Every year, Siberian Federal University participates in large-scale Russian and international research projects to conduct fundamental research, scientific and methodological, and youth scientific projects. In 2009, the intellectual resource of teachers and students provided the university with grant support amounting to over half a billion rubles.

Since the establishment of Siberian Federal University, the number of publications of scientific articles by university teachers in international journals has increased threefold; The number of grants received increased 6 times.

To ensure the international priority of scientific works of teachers, staff, graduate students, and doctoral students, a scientific journal of the Siberian Federal University is published. “SFU Journal” is a peer-reviewed publication with a frequency of publishing each series “Humanities”, “Mathematics and Physics”, “Biology”, “Chemistry”, “Engineering and Technologies” once a quarter. Articles are published in both Russian and English. “The Siberian Federal University Journal Library” is a closed series of books created by teachers of the Siberian Federal University. Monographs that have received support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Krasnoyarsk Science Foundation and other scientific foundations that hold open grant competitions for the preparation of scientific publications are accepted for publication in the “Library of the SFU Journal” series. The remaining manuscripts are accepted for publication on a competitive basis after an external closed qualified examination carried out through the Krasnoyarsk Regional Science Foundation. In addition, manuscripts of textbooks and teaching aids that have received the stamp of the UMO in the relevant specialty and the recommendation of the Editorial and Publishing Council of the university are accepted.
Scientific and practical activities during the learning process make it possible to prepare highly qualified specialists who are in demand on the labor market.

Another important component of the university’s activity on the innovation platform is the creation of small enterprises aimed at transforming new knowledge into new products. This is a new and timely field of activity for Russian universities. The academic council of the university gave the green light to more than 20 such small enterprises, both in the field of technology and in the field of consulting and service services. The main working core of these enterprises will be students, therefore, their success will be a characteristic of the work of the university.

Last year, out of 3,453 graduates, almost 85% got jobs in their specialty, and 376 young scientists continued their postgraduate studies.

CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT

Siberian Federal University occupies a special place in the development plans of the Krasnoyarsk agglomeration. The intellectual center of “greater Krasnoyarsk” must have the appropriate infrastructure, so the creation of a university campus was initially envisaged. It will occupy an area of 650 hectares, and 22 new facilities will be built on its territory. The campus includes academic buildings, a library with storage capacity of 3 million volumes, an international-level sports complex, a congress hall with halls for conferences and exhibitions, sports complexes, dormitories for students and office housing for teachers, hotels for visiting professors, a cinema complex, the shops.

With the active financial support of the regional authorities, two educational buildings were completed, housing the Institute of Space and Information Technologies, the Institute of Humanities, the Institute of Philology and Language Communication and the Institute of Urban Planning and Regional Economics. The building of a modern electronic library with a rector’s office was put into operation. In August 2009, a new student dormitory with a modern layout (apartment option) for 700 places was put into operation. Today it is already called a luxury hostel. By decision of the student trade union committee, freshmen became residents. On instructions from federal structures, documentation has been prepared for the construction of several more dormitories and a new academic building. The university town is taking on its own characteristics and becoming attractive to young people and city residents.

A significant part of the campus will be occupied by a technology park. It will combine the research potential of the university and institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the personnel potential of SibFU and the capabilities of the largest high-tech corporations on one site.

If persons entitled to admission based on the results of entrance tests conducted by the University independently present USE results in the relevant general education subjects, the University takes into account the USE results as the results of entrance tests and does not allow these persons to take their own entrance tests in general education subjects.

Admission advantages for winners and prize-winners of school Olympiads

Every year, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation approves a list of Olympiads for schoolchildren, the winners of which have advantages when entering universities. The results of such Olympiads can be counted as the highest results of entrance tests (100 points) in general education subjects corresponding to the profile of the Olympiad; admission to some areas is possible without exams.

The benefits depend on the level of the Olympiad, degree of diploma, university and area of training (specialty). For a list of benefits for winners and prize-winners of school Olympiads upon admission to Siberian Federal University, see the document above.

In order for the result of the Olympiad to be counted upon admission, it is necessary to present a diploma of the winner (prize-winner) of the Olympiad to the Admissions Committee. An Olympiad diploma can be counted as the highest result in only one area (specialty). Moreover, only one Olympiad diploma can be used in one direction (specialty). When submitting documents for admission, the applicant must indicate which diploma he wishes to assign to which area (specialty) (this decision can be changed later by writing a corresponding application to the Admissions Committee).

Olympiad diplomas provide benefits for admission within one calendar year after the announcement of the Olympiad results.

    SFU Student Culture Center

Student years are not only lectures, seminars, tests and exams, it is a time of personality development, a time of creativity, a time of discovering new talents and new opportunities. It is in the Center for Student Culture of the Siberian Federal University that all conditions have been created for the disclosure and development of the creative abilities of each student.

“Bombers” is a serious and thoughtful team of people who love very different original songs: major and light, which can be sung in chorus around the fire and create a cheerful mood; and deep minor, and melancholic, and serious. Therefore, everyone who comes to this club will always find a place by the fire, a friendly shoulder, a mug of tea and a couple of spoons of jam!

    Bard song club “Baobab”

The original song club "BAOBAB" has existed since 1996, and its roots go back to the 60s! It was then that the head of the club, Boris Porfilevich Soustin, brought Yuri Vizbor and Alexander Gorodnitsky to visit our university. Since 1998, Tatyana Viktorovna Bryl has been leading the club, and since 2011, Polina Mikhailovna Baranova. And all this time we are invariably united by creativity, common interests, and friendship.

After graduating from school, graduates find themselves at the center of a crossroads: “Where should I go to study? Who to become? Will I succeed?” In addition, the variety of educational institutions can confuse even the most organized graduate. But it’s no secret that state universities with a long history are considered the most prestigious by employers, and also, thanks to many years of experience, they carry a huge amount of knowledge that will be useful to every student.

Getting to know Siberian Federal University

    Vladimir Sokolov 07:55 07/06/2013

I am a graduate of this educational institution. I studied there from 1991 to 1996. Now it is a united university, which included the Krasnoyarsk State Technical University, where I also studied. I am proud that I studied at this university, because in it all prestigious technical faculties were gathered. The organization of admissions committees for all specialties is always organized at the proper level: registration, explanations from faculty representatives and acceptance of documents. The study, of course, was labor-intensive and painstaking and this is natural...

    ????????????????????????????????????

This year, the largest university in Siberia has prepared a number of pleasant innovations for future students. The university has a strong reputation as an intellectual forge of highly qualified and in-demand personnel. Over the past years, it has been firmly included in the TOP 20 best universities in the country. Siberian Federal University. Therefore, the focus on attracting the best graduates to SFU is supported by various incentives for the “bright and clever”. This year, almost 6 thousand students will be able to enroll here on a budgetary basis. The executive secretary of the SFU admissions committee, Alexander Usachev, spoke about the priorities of the applicant campaign.

How many points are needed to enter Siberian Federal University, and how can you add a couple to your rating?

It is no secret that among universities there is a competitive struggle for the elite - the best graduates of schools and technical schools: medalists, graduates who receive a certificate or diploma with honors. Therefore, we have developed a system of priority support for them.

School graduates in most cases take three Unified State Examinations, each of which is worth 100 points. In addition to the main rating, they have the opportunity to earn up to 10 points for individual achievements. At Siberian Federal University, for example, from 1 to 10 points can be scored for sporting achievements, including passing GTO standards, 10 points - for a certificate or diploma with honors, from 2 to 5 points are awarded for participation in competitions, olympiads, university events that were held in throughout the year.

The last opportunity to earn extra points will be this summer. An express competition for applicants will start on June 20, for participation in which you can add 2 to 5 points to your rating. To summarize, I would like to emphasize that there can be many achievements, but they will not bring more than 10 points in total.

We expect the greatest competition for places in the areas of linguistics, architecture, computer security, economic security, international relations, jurisprudence, and oil and gas. It will be easier for those who pass the Unified State Exam in physics to enter the university. For admission to a good half of all specialties this subject is required, as a result of which the passing score for these specialties is around 150-160 points. For comparison: for “linguistics” and “international relations” the passing score is 260-270 points.

“A very significant change to keep in mind is the lack of a priority system for final admissions. As in previous years, each applicant can apply simultaneously to five universities and three specialties in each. Last year, a new document appeared - “Consent for Enrollment”, which must be submitted before the order for enrollment in only one specialty is issued. This point may be alarming for those who received so-called “semi-passing” or simply low scores.”

One more “pro” to add to the box

“There are also financial incentives for entering the Siberian Federal University. Increased scholarships are provided for students studying on a budget basis. So, if the average scholarship amount is 2 thousand rubles, then especially talented ones can qualify for payments of 10 thousand. A scholarship of 5 times the amount will be paid to the winners and prize-winners of school Olympiads. A priority set of specialties has also been determined (there are about 30 of them), where the scholarship has been increased by 50%. For students, this premium is significant. For the second year in a row, graduates who have passed the Unified State Exam in physics or computer science and whose rating is more than 210 points are awarded a double scholarship, and those with more than 240 points are awarded a three-time scholarship. In addition, for the first time, Siberian Federal University will support applicants who are winners of major sporting competitions with triple scholarships. In addition, there are regional programs to support talented applicants - additional payments to scholarships in the amount of five thousand rubles monthly. Medalists, winners of All-Russian Olympiads, and children who have a high score based on the results of three Unified State Examinations can apply for these funds.”

“Due to changes in the conditions of paid education throughout the country, our university does not have the right to make the cost of education lower than that established by the federal center, however, depending on the points scored, the cost is reduced by 10-50%. We have prepared a system for reducing tuition fees for paying students. So, for example, students who score more than 180 points on the Unified State Examination (upon admission to most areas of training) will be able to receive a 50% discount for the entire period of study, provided that they study “good” and “excellent”. The university is extremely interested in smart and strong students.”

How not to forget anything and manage everything

“The acceptance of applications for admission this year starts on June 20 and will last until July 26. And on July 27, rating lists of applicants for admission will be posted on the website and at the university itself. From July 28 to August 1, you need to finally decide, based on these lists, which will change daily, where to place the original documents: certificate, consent to enrollment. This will be the first wave of enrollment, which will determine 80% of those enrolled. The second wave will last from August 4 to 6.”

“In my opinion, it is difficult to find a university with a richer student and sports life. We have been repeatedly recognized as the best university in the country for various sports achievements; we have our own KVN league, theater studios, vocal and instrumental groups, bard associations, a rock club, dance groups, beatboxers and much more. There are all conditions for growth both personally and academically. At Siberian Federal University today there are open programs in 150 specialties and areas of training in all forms of education, there is a choice for everyone, today we have about 40 thousand students, and you can join their ranks! ”, Alexander Usachev invited everyone at the end of the interview graduates of schools and technical colleges of the country.

Start of summer express courses at Siberian Federal University

Summer express courses will start in June at the Siberian Federal University. The courses can be used by those who plan to enroll in both full-time and part-time studies and take exams directly at the university, and also choose the so-called creative specialties, where an additional fourth exam is provided.

Head of Pre-University Training Department Yulia Kontaryova: « Express courses are the shortest, summer courses last from 2 weeks to one month. Not every university has the opportunity to organize them at home, as this is associated with certain difficulties. In fact, express courses in general education subjects are the last opportunity before exams to systematize the knowledge acquired over the year or during self-study. It is also important that the classes are taught by experienced teachers of the Siberian Federal University, that is, the base obtained during the classes allows potential applicants to feel more confident in the exams».

    • Courses in general education subjects (mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, Russian language, literature, social studies, history, English) will be held with June 5 to July 7.
    • Courses in creative subjects (journalism, plaster head drawing, composition of geometric solids, drafting) will be held with June 29 to July 9.

This stunning event ended with a grand fireworks display, which was watched by hundreds of students and teachers from both universities.
