The best social networks. Telegram does not know. What social networks are used in the USA Social networks with the most active audience

“What is not clear here? They communicate and praise their lives!” According to statistics, as of May 2016, there are three trainloads of social networks on the Internet. Once every few months, some resource rolls out the “TOP-15” or “TOP-25” statistics of the most popular social networks, and Facebook is consistently in the first place. Everyone is constantly harassing him, but everyone is sitting there. And everyone is on Twitter, VKontakte, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Google +, YouTube, Pinterest, Tumblr and many others, spending the lion's share of their lives online. But why?

According to the latest statistics, the top three positions are occupied by Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. It is not smart. In Europe, FB has become an analogue of Odnoklassniki, where you can now find everything in general - from photographs of the children of former classmates to analytical analyzes of the leaked documents of the Panama scandal, with a break for buying something unnecessary and watching a video with a panda rolling in a meadow. Twi has a lot of information that comes in extremely quickly. You can swipe at least every second and you will get something new again and again. With the indefinable thirst of modern humanity for information, this is just a blessing. And LinkedIn is the best social network, where there is nothing superfluous, but there are always interesting people, specialists, prospects for higher salaries, more exciting business trips and tasks.

Nevertheless, I identified three main cases for which people register on social networks and filled them with my own habits.

For communication

File hosting Skype! Almost not one, because all communication to the maximum has moved to instant messengers. Now they themselves are also very much like social networks, with games, stickers, bots and other nonsense. The mobile division of Facebook even moved the messenger into a separate application from which you can call, write and be sure, otherwise you will not be able to answer anyone from the application of the Facebook itself. To be honest, at first I didn’t like it at all, and it’s annoying when you left the house, forgot to put a log for messages, and then, on some Syrets, where only the edge pulls, a message came, and you sit, suffer, download .

On the other hand, I still have a couple of friends who stubbornly do not switch to telegrams, with whom I still communicate on VK. And now I don’t need anything there - neither a news feed, nor a video, I don’t want to be online there, I just want a dialogue. It's at times like these that you realize that FB did the right thing.

For fun

A very large list, according to my personal feelings, but small, if you look at the scale of the existing good. Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, the last two are negligible. Listen to music, watch videos, flip through photos of beauties, watch live how someone is going somewhere or telling something, reading jokes about the crisis and power, looking out for what classmates are doing what now. All this is a human curiosity that cannot be appeased, and a way to get distracted when tired. Mindless surfing. And thanks to the fact that someone even manages to repost adme or recipes on Facebook, then there is something to be distracted by that is not of the most useful nature.

At the same time, I do not scroll through the news feed in VK, for example. I go to the profiles of individual people of interest to me at that moment. But I often open groups with funny pictures or educational programs like Arzamas. I can answer someone in the Keddra group in VK. But mostly, I like to post music selections on the wall there, with or without announcements of my lyrics on Medium. I love music and themed playlists.

For work

This is the most useful, as for me, time spent on social networks. I am subscribed to many educational mailing lists, popular science magazine groups or communities, self-study courses, media accounts of interest to me, and cool journalists. Nowadays it is the fastest and easiest way to transfer information. Who will get to the scene faster - a team of reporters or a person with the Internet and Twitter? Twi is the main source of almost all important news for me personally. Useful videos and information, links to interesting articles and opinions of authoritative people - I refer to all this as working moments. In addition, the publication of your texts and videos is all there.

My new love is the Medium blogging platform. It is attractive in its conciseness, and you can register either using Twitter or Facebook, or using your Google account. It is prettier than LiveJournal, but the audience there is mostly English-speaking. There I write about everything that is not related to the world of technology, I read blogs about life and politics, nothing in the interface distracts from the text, and I spend the lion's share of the time there, because this social network is my favorite now.

As for LinkedIN, I don't have a need to use this social network yet. There is work, all the editors and journalists I know and are interested in are on Twitter or Facebook. But if you want to change your profile of activity, then an account there will not hurt you. This is an excellent database of contacts of specialists. There are especially many IT workers there, as a social network for hire. Comfortable. There you will definitely not find any cats and recipes.

And what's wrong with that?

My social network diet, as you can see, is a bit sparse and boring. Despite the fact that basically in almost all social networks I tell something about my life and read what the same users say about theirs, they are all divided by audience. On VKontakte, Keddra viewers subscribe to me, and I subscribe to people whose audio recordings I found interesting, on Facebook I read political figures, journalists, writers, on Twitter I recently cleaned the feed and it became much easier to breathe, now there are familiar, homegrown comedians and publications, on the main page of which I rarely go, but I want to be aware of the materials of which I want to be. Instagram has a lot of beauty - landscapes, food, clothes, travel, everything that is nice to look at, the soul rests. The same can be said about Pinterest and Tumblr, but they didn't hook me. But the audience of such social networks as Google+ and Snapchat still raises a question for me. I use the first one only to register in some applications so that I don’t have to enter a new name and password, and the second one got tired of me too quickly, it can also be for those who seize the moment, but Periscope is cooler.

You can still work in social networks, Facebook and their stores are a good example of this, or VK groups for nail extensions, showroom accounts with rags on Instagram. Many people hate them, a smaller number of people love them and buy only there, and someone tries to run their small business this way. You can also become a “social network star”, post your streams with obscenities, half-naked photos or photos of highly artistic content there, write brilliant texts and all that. This will bring you fame and possibly dividends as a result. But if you look specifically at my example (and at the examples of 80% of the audience of social network users) from the side of adequate perception, I spend a lot of time on social networks, which, in fact, is procrastination. In an attempt to fix this, I stopped listening to audio on VK, updating my Facebook feed every 20 minutes, and spending several days a week without YouTube. The plans are to arrange a day or three a week also without Twitter, but this is more difficult. But you can generally write a separate post about this - a post about procrastination, so that you procrastinate while reading it.

Social networks are a type of Internet resources with the ability to join different interest groups, discuss all sorts of links, videos, photos, etc. I do not know such people who have not heard of at least a couple of networks from the list below.

How did you find out about this site?
- I am a registered user.
- Truth? Do you do this single thing?
- I'm a 32-year-old sysadmin who works in the basement. Yeah, I do this single thing.

Facebook has an audience of 750 million users in 200 countries. The service was born in 2004 as a site for communication between Harvard students, and what's next is a well-known story. Whoever has not seen Fincher's film, I highly advise - informative and 3 Oscars no matter how.

The founder of the service, Mark Zuckerberg, Forbes included in the list of the richest people in the world. Many independent programmers work inside the site, the programs they created brought the lion's share of success

LiveJournal is a blog platform that brings together a wide variety of people, whether it be age, social status, religious beliefs, preferences, and so on.

In 1999, American programmer Brad Fitzpatrick registered the livejournal.com domain and created a giant virtual diary service. At first it was his personal blog site, then his friends and acquaintances began to unsubscribe there, and off we go. Fitzpatrick founded Danga Interactive, which was sold to Six in 2005.

Twitter is essentially a microblogging system where users can post short texts of up to 140 characters using SMS, pagers, and a web interface. Twitter was created in 2006 in San Francisco by Evan Williams, Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass and Biz Stone. IT specialists worked on an R&D project with Odeo.

In October 2006, they opened their own company, Obvious, through which Twitter and Odeo were managed. There was nothing like this before, so immediately after entering the market, the number of users of the tweeting network began to grow very quickly. In April 2007, Twitter split from Obvious and became

Tom Anderson and Chris DeWulf met at XDrive Technologies, which they left to form their own firm, Response Base Marketing. The main task was to create a universal space for online activities. Initially, the guys focused on the interests of the creative part of users - photography, programming, music, cinema.

As of June 2006, the resource boasted 48 million unique visitors and 27.4 billion page views. Even the Pentagon decided to play on the popularity of MySpace: in the name of replenishing the ranks of the US armed forces, an official page of the US Marine Corps was created on the social portal, equipped with a button “Contract

Google+ is the social network of Google Inc. In 2010, there was information about the development of a new social network Google Me, but it turned out to be a duck. In the spring of 2011, information was leaked about the social network Google Circles, but when Google + launched in June, it became clear that Google Circles was its foundation.

Circles divide the social circle into separate subgroups. The number of photos and videos is not limited by anything other than size, the duration of the video is a maximum of 15 minutes at a resolution of 1080p. There are Video Meetings where users can set up a video chat (maximum 10

The brothers Pavel and Nikolai Durov were inspired by Facebook and created Vkontakte.ru. Previously, Pavel made Durov.com and Spbgu.Ru (by the way, it is now one of the largest communities for students in St. Petersburg and Moscow).

Due to the similarity of the interfaces, there were many copyright disputes, but for Vkontakte it was necessary to write your own code, look through the directories of the Ministry of Education, university websites and do a hell of a lot of work. So be honest

Albert Popkov was on the team to create the social network Passado.com. Since 2000, he has developed a project similar to Classmates for his own money. This high-profile and sometimes scandalous network gained an audience of 1.5 million users in Russia in 7 months.

The British company i-CD Publishing, Popkov's former employer, accused him of using Passado's ideas and other terrible sins. They also said that Odnoklassniki is an FSB project, so they follow people and collect dossiers in leather folders. Or what is there

Hello everyone, the holidays are over, no matter how sad it is, we must continue to live. Today I want to tell you what applications and social networks Americans use.

Two years ago I moved to live and study in the USA, talked to many people, this is already my

1. Snapchat

Let's start in order, the very first app on the list is, of course, Snapchat. In my opinion, this is the most popular mobile app in America.

With all the features of stories on Instagram and WhatsApp, young people remain faithful to it and use it constantly, for them it is something so secret, not accessible to anyone, personal.

On Snapchat, you usually only add people you know and friends. For this, the abbreviation "AMOSC" is used, which means Add Me On SnapChat or add me on Snapchat.

You don’t need to take a really high-quality picture that will always hang in the tape, you don’t need to bother at all, after 24 hours everything will disappear. You can play around, shoot something funny, experiment, share emotions and impressions. Yes, and only those whom you yourself have chosen and added see it.

2.Instagram

Instagram includes almost all the features of other social networks. What is interesting here is that Americans actively use personal messages, create conversations. To do this, they also use the abbreviation “DM”, which stands for Direct Messages.

3.Twitter

People like the microblogging format. They love to share their thoughts and mood, it will immediately go into the feed. It is very convenient to advertise your posts. Wrote - threw a link and everyone who constantly reads you can already read the article and comment.

Also, every popular company, school club, sports team, famous person, in general, almost every more or less well-known organization has Twitter, which allows people to follow any news.

4.Pinterest

The fourth application on the list, in the USA it is very popular, quite a lot of people actively use it - the Pinterest application. In Russia, this is not popular at all, I think many don’t even know about it, I didn’t meet this application with us at all and didn’t know anything about Pinterest before my trip to the USA.

This is an application where people get ideas for everything, there are a lot of pictures, life hacks, some interesting solutions. There you can find absolutely everything, recipes for cooking, ways to combine different clothes.

Searching on Pinterest is easier than just searching in a search engine, because there are no different ads, left sites and left content, everything that is really needed is selected.

5. Simple phone messages

What follows is not quite a social network and application. We have popular messengers. Some use Viber, others use WhatsApp and Telegram, some just use Vkontakte. But Americans do not understand why all this is necessary if there are ordinary phone messages.

People correspond there, exchange videos and photos, all in ordinary messages. Moreover, all cellular operators in the US have one tariff plan, in which calls and messages are unlimited.

But let's also discuss what is unpopular there, what applications they do not use.

It was very strange for me, Americans don't use Facebook. I will not be responsible for the entire population, but young people do not use it, many are not even registered there. They find it inconvenient.

P.S. I asked ten classmates if they use Telegram, among which were Americans, Spaniards, Italians, Swedes and a Greek. No one knew about such a messenger at all, they just laughed at the name. No one has heard of Durov at all.

I told them about the rally in support of Telegram and the free Internet in general, everyone supported :)

I think that's all, I mentioned all the social networks and applications that are popular in the US among guys from 16 to 25 years old. By the way, here is our international team.

Facebook, Vkontakte and others are part of the life of any modern person. Even grandmothers are on Instagram. But what are the best and most popular social networking sites? Find out below!

How social networks appeared on the Internet

First, let's go over the history of the development of social networks. In 1995, classmates.com was launched. People there looked for those with whom they studied at school or institute. The service quickly became famous. The idea was picked up, and in the early 2000s, the first "big three" appeared:

LinkedIn and Facebook are the most popular social networks on Earth today. And Facebook even holds the 3rd place in the ranking of the most visited sites in the world (Google and YouTube are in the first and second places).

Nowadays, more than 3 billion people are registered in social networks. Half the inhabitants of the Earth! And in Russia they are used by about 45% of people over 18 years old.

By the way, in 2018 Russia entered the TOP-10 countries in terms of the growth of social network users. But which sites are the most popular with us? Written in the review below.

The most popular social networks in Russia: list

The "Audience" section shows the global statistics of visits for November 2018. according tosimilarweb.com

1. In contact with (VK)

  • Founded: 2006
  • Founder: Pavel Durov
  • Audience in the world: 2 billion per month

The undisputed leader in Russia. Millions of people come here every day for communication and entertainment, not to mention earnings. Vkontakte has long turned into a platform for a variety of businesses. The resource actively supports commerce: there is an advertising exchange, the possibility of mailing lists and money transfers, as well as various paid features.

Founded by a simple student from St. Petersburg, today VK belongs to Mail.ru Group. It also includes the next site from our list.

2. Classmates

  • Founded: 2006
  • Founder: Albert Popkov
  • Audience in the world: 1.1 billion. per month

The same age as Vkontakte, but half as popular. It is believed that Odnoklassniki is mainly used by older people. This site is more focused on communication than business. So her main income is paid emoticons and gifts, as well as features like the “invisible” mode and adding additional photos to the album. Business is also not very developed.

3.Instagram

Twitter was originally founded as a short messaging service within Odeo. But after Odeo passed to other owners, they immediately saw the prospect. Twitter quickly gained popularity around the world. Messages of no more than 280 characters (until September 2017 - 140 characters) are convenient primarily for news and announcements.

Social networks in our life

The role of social networks in the life of a modern person cannot be underestimated. We get to know each other, communicate and even fall in love within them. Psychologists have been talking for years about the influence of social networks on the human psyche. The problem of addiction to social networks has long been considered a serious disease. A modern person, prone to such an ailment, does not get out of these sites for hours, forgetting about the real world, food and sleep.

But if you do not go to extremes, then social networks are an excellent tool for communication, promotion and earnings. Many have found work, vocation and even love here. So there is no doubt that social networks will continue to develop, becoming more advanced and convenient.

Some people think that over time they will contain so many functions that many other sites will simply become unnecessary. Will it be so? Let's see.
